Guess what? We found some study results that will give us something amazing to look forward to when we age.
A study on 50,000 adults was published in Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research, found that people had less of a hangover as they get older. Yay! According to Telegraph:
21 per cent of women aged 18-29 suffered nausea with a hangover compared with just 3 per cent of women older than 60.
And here is one for middle-aged men, accused of lacking stamina by their hard-drinking juniors at rugby club dinners. More than 60 per cent of men in their twenties suffered exhaustion when they had a hangover, compared with just 14 per cent in the older cohort.
In plain terms, people take their drink much, much better as they get older. You don’t see them staggering about in the streets, dashing into chemists for Alka-Seltzer or throwing sickies at work the day after a hen night. They have learnt to act sober, even when they are not.
All of a sudden, I can't wait to turn 60 and wake up fresh after a long boozy night. But then again, at 60 you probably won't be dancing your limbs off at a pumping club, which might be why it's easier to pace yourself at an older age. I've got 30 years to find out.
