Asian stocks fell in early trading Wednesday, as strong economic data out of the U.S. failed to quell worries about Europe's festering debt crisis.

Reuters reports that Japan's Nikkei 225 index lost 0.1 percent to 8,529.98. Hong Kong's Hang Seng lost 1.6 percent at 19,040.65 and South Korea's Kospi fell 0.2 percent to 1,882.14.
