Facebook is rolling out photo comments, where users can comment on posts with images rather than just words. It was originally built during a Facebook employee hackathon. Photo comments are beginning to roll out globally on the web as well as on the Facebook mobile site. Unfortunately users can't leave photo comments within Facebook's mobile apps, but they're viewable.
News broke out in 2012 that a feature-length Lego movie was happening and slated for a 2014 release. And it's true! It's going to happen! The first trailer shows LEGO figures and reveals that it's based on a "chosen one" kinda plot. And a lot of superhero mentions.
Berlin-based designers Ying Zhang and Ida Thonsgaard created a system called Playtime, which is a collection of chairs and tables made out of thin layers of tessellated wooden triangles, backed by a textile laminate. When these pieces are unfolded, they're flat like rugs. But when you snap together the embedded system of magnets and clips, each piece transforms into a 3D side table or stool. The surfaces are covered in patterns inspired by Japanese origami and Nordic textiles.
AMD is reported to be taking a leap into unknown territory as it prepares its first ever ARM chip.
Codenamed "Seattle", the new chip is apparently based on the architecture designed by ARM, which is now prolific in smartphones and tablets. According to the Wall Street Journal, the chips will be aimed at server systems where the same power savings required by mobile apps are becoming increasingly attractive. |
