Infiniti QX80 SUV is a large size SUV manufactured by parent company Nissan. It is a powerful AWD SUV which can prove to be an excellent family car for drives on the highway as well as in the city. The 2019 QX80’s price tag is well justified by performance and interiors of the car.
What do we like?
There are many advantages to buying new Infiniti QX80. One of the major advantages is that the third row is quite roomy. Moreover, the car offers an excellent fuel economy which allows you to save on fuel during long journeys. The QX80 also offers one of nicest cabins in the segment. The cabin is elegant, classy and is engineered in such a way that outside noise is cut.
What we do not like?
There are a few shortcomings which should be noted before making a purchase. When it comes to safety, this car has a low score. Another drawback it that the handling isn’t too good.
What is new for 2019?
There have been major changes when we consider exterior styling of the Infiniti. The design has been inclined towards a sporty look rather than a traditional SUV look. Moreover, there have been enhancements in chassis. There are additions in terms of infotainment and other technological features to make the ride more comfortable and efficient.
The car has two variants and both variants have the same performance. The difference is that one model is a front-wheel-drive whereas, another model is an AWD. The car uses a 3.5-liter V6 engine cylinders. The car offers a combined average of 23 mpg. The base price of models is however different.
The previous model of the QX80 had a simple yet unattractive exterior design. The 2019 model carries the same exterior design, which is a disappointment. There are xenon headlights and a redesigned grille to on the front, and side mounts to ease ingress and enhance the ‘macho’ appeal of this SUV. This Infiniti is available in 7 different exterior colors. Other exterior features, such as fog lights and Daytime Running Lights, remain the same for all variants.
One of the most iconic features of this car is flexible seating. The car is extremely roomy and can accommodate around 6-7 people. The second row has a child seat installed for the comfort of children passengers. Moreover, people in the second row can easily reach the third row and first row. Both the second row and third row can recline. The interior of the car flaunts an amalgamation of wood, leather, and metals. However, it does not feature a bigger screen for multimedia. It has a few physical buttons instead of a soft touch and a rotary knob for other tasks. In an optional package, customers can opt for a Bose sound system and a 360-degree camera.
The car was known for its dull handling and lack of active safety features. However, there have been many significant additions for the 2019 model. Few of features include a rearview camera, antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, front seat-mounted airbags and full-length curtain airbags. Other features include remote door unlocking, rear parking sensors, automatic collision warning, stolen vehicle notification, blind-spot warning system, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and speed and geo-fencing notification. IIHS has not rated the car and NHTSA tests result have been average.
